Privacy Policy

The Pet Loss Club ("we", "us", "our") provides this app as a gentle space for grief support after pet loss. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using the app you agree to this policy.

Account Information: We collect your email address, display name, and optional profile photo. Authentication is handled via Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or email/password through Supabase Auth. We store the authentication tokens required to keep you signed in.

Content You Create: We store the content you submit to the app, including memorial posts (photos, pet names, birth and passing dates, stories), community posts and comments, journal entries (private to you), letters to and from your pet, event RSVPs, and candlelight memorial submissions.

Usage and Device Data: We collect your subscription status (via RevenueCat), push notification token (via OneSignal), device platform (iOS or Android), crash logs, and basic analytics about which screens are used. We do not collect precise location data.

We use your information to provide the core service — displaying your posts and memorials, delivering push notifications, and processing your subscription. When you use the AI letter feature, the text you submit is sent to OpenAI or Anthropic via our secure backend gateway solely to generate your letter. It is NOT stored by those providers for model training. Admins may review flagged content to moderate the community and keep the app safe. We also use data to detect abuse and prevent spam.

We work with the following third-party service providers to operate the app:

• Supabase — database and authentication, hosted in US/EU regions.
• RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase validation.
• OneSignal — push notification delivery.
• Apple and Google — sign-in providers and payment processing for in-app purchases.
• AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) — accessed via our Liquid Backend gateway for AI letter generation only. Your prompts are not retained by these providers for training.

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with these providers to operate the app.

Public to signed-in members: Community posts, memorials, pet profiles, and candlelight submissions are visible to other signed-in members of the app.

Private to you only: Journal entries and letters are stored privately and are never visible to other members or admins.

Visible to admins only: Event attendee lists are accessible to app administrators for event management purposes.

We retain your data while your account is active. You may delete individual posts, memorials, journal entries, or letters at any time within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email jaydek@thepetlossclub.com — we will process the request within 30 days.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You may also opt out of marketing emails and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at jaydek@thepetlossclub.com.

This app is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please email jaydek@thepetlossclub.com and we will delete it promptly.

We use industry-standard encryption — HTTPS in transit and AES-256 at rest via Supabase — but no online service is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to enable platform-level biometric protection on your device.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and emailed to your account email address. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
